Our employees are essential to our community engagement. Donning yellow vests, they enter neighborhoods with warmth and enthusiasm, and take proactive steps with our community partners to tackle environmental and social challenges. To encourage participation, Cathay provides every employee with one day of paid volunteer leave each year, empowering them to serve local needs in their own communities.

Cathay Life Insurance

Each year, the Cathay Charity Foundation mobilizes volunteers across Taiwan to host a nationwide summer blood drive. This initiative encourages passionate employees, customers, and the public to roll up their sleeves for a good cause while maintaining safety precautions.

In 2024, we held 648 blood drives across the country, collecting a record-breaking 64,315 bags of blood. Over the past 25 years, our cumulative donations have reached 694,659 units, or roughly 173.66 million cc of blood. For these efforts, we were honored with the "2024 Outstanding Blood Donation Achievement" award by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Cathay United Bank

In many remote areas, many children are being raised by grandparents due to parents working long hours away from home. This often results in a lack of financial literacy, which affects children's future financial management skills. To help children in rural communities develop financial literacy from an early age, CUB mobilized employees to apply their professional skills and engage through its volunteer system to support financial education for rural elementary school students. Since 2021, the bank has pioneered online livestream financial education programs, overcoming time and geographic barriers to provide remote education each year.

In 2024, CUB held a Sustainable Finance Exploration Camp and invited students from Daxi Elementary School in Taitung, one of the schools supported by the Elevated Tree Program, to travel north to participate. The program combined fun financial lessons with interactive anti-fraud games, making financial education more engaging and relatable. As of the end of 2024, 258 students benefited from financial education courses under the Tutor CUB Financial Education.

Cathay Century Insurance

Cathay Century Insurance firmly believes that establishing proactive risk prevention measures can enable comprehensive protection of public safety. We promote diverse social welfare programs for all ages to fulfill our two main goals of "zero traffic accidents" and "enhancing risk prevention awareness" through our "Accident-Free Riders," "Zero Accident Academy," "Campus Traffic Risk Maps," and "Accident-Free Bikers" programs to reduce traffic safety losses. We also launched the "Accident-Free Campus" and "Accident-Free Community" programs to enhance public risk awareness and build safe and secure environments.

In 2024, we hosted 17 campus traffic safety lectures which reached more than 1,550 people; student satisfaction with the project reached 91 points. We also directed people from offline campus traffic safety lectures to the online "Zero Accident Academy," combining online and offline channels to convey the core concepts of our Accident-Free Riders program.

Cathay Securities

To ensure that underserved populations have access to quality financial education, Cathay Securities launched the “Inclusive Society Co-Prosperity Program” in 2023, with Nanzhuang Township in Miaoli County as a pilot site. Following positive feedback and results, the initiative expanded in 2024 with the “Financial Education Together GO” campaign, delivering financial literacy and anti-fraud awareness programs to indigenous elders, senior citizens, and youth across remote communities and university campuses. Building on its ongoing support for the Pitilidan no Salinpo Elementary School soccer team in Taitung since 2020, Cathay once again sponsored graduating students in 2024 to join the "Graduation! Take Your Textbooks on a Trip" experiential learning program. In addition to hands-on learning that connects classroom knowledge with real-world experiences, students received training on financial literacy, fraud prevention, and a one-day customer service roleplay experience.

In 2024, Cathay Securities held 40 financial education sessions and one experiential learning activity, reaching a total of 1,218 participants.

Cathay SITE

Back in early 2016, Cathay SITE established its volunteer group, "Fun Happiness Society," dedicated to promoting social good. The initiative connects employees to social welfare activities and the company's sustainability principles, encouraging them to care for vulnerable groups through hands-on work. This offers employees a different kind of experience and learning opportunity outside of work.

The program, which supports groups like rural schoolchildren and single-parent families, has grown from single-digit participation to nearly 100 members. Cathay SITE Chairman Chang Hsi said that it is truly invaluable for employees to contribute their own efforts through personal participation and practice. He added that the company will continue to encourage employees to give back, extending every touching moment and keeping the love at a constant temperature.

We partnered with the Taiwan Digital Talking Book Association to create DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) audiobooks. This technology makes it easier for visually impaired individuals to access information, improving their well-being in areas like medical care, daily living, education, and employment.

Employees who participated in this project helped with the e-book layout, spending about 20 minutes per book. Each completed book provides a visually impaired person with an additional opportunity to learn. In addition to contributing to a good cause, employees can also count their participation toward volunteer hours and earn volunteer leave.
